Autodesk has announced plans to release its legendary professional design and engineering software AutoCAD for the Macintosh. The software will be available this fall. The company has also announced a mobile application that will enable AutoCAD users to adjust their designs using iOS devices in the field. (more…)

Valve Software publishes monthly statistical information gathered by its Steam gaming service. Now that Steam has been on the Mac for a few months, information on Steam’s use by Mac gamers is beginning to provide a clearer picture about who’s using the popular service. This is no surprise given the trends in Apple hardware sales, but laptop users figure prominently into the mix. (more…)

Paul Devine is the Apple manager charged with taking kickbacks from Apple suppliers in return for leaking information. Prosecutors said in court Monday that federal agents searching his house found more than $150,000 in cash stored in shoe boxes, along with another $20,000 in foreign currency.
Devine must allow authorities to inspect two safety deposit boxes he holds. Given that Devine had so much cash stashed away in his house, the Department of Justice wants to ensure that he doesn’t have money in the safety deposit boxes as well, Kane said.
The judge hearing the case said Devine has to transfer money stored in foreign bank accounts to his U.S. account, and post it plus $600,000 in bail before he can be released.

Earlier this week Apple released Snow Leopard Graphics Update 1.0, a driver update for Mac OS X 10.6 that improved performance in some games.
