I haven’t had a chance to use these amps, but it looks really nice. Fender has some of the most iconic amps ever made, so if you’re looking for a way to try out some digital models, you should take a look at these.

Carpool Karaoke: On the Road Again
Some of these episodes look pretty good.
Apple fails to end lawsuit claiming it ‘broke’ FaceTime
U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh ruled late on Friday that iPhone 4 and 4S users can pursue nationwide class action claims that Apple intentionally “broke” FaceTime to save money from routing calls through servers owned by Akamai Technologies Inc.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Times change, technology moves forward.
Retail’s most profitable square footage
To paraphrase The Talking Heads, “Same as it ever was.” Apple has been the leader in this metric almost since the first store opened and it hasn’t even been close for years. Remarkable numbers.
Amazon misses profits, but analysts stay bullish
A steeper-than-expected drop in quarterly profit rattled some Amazon.com investors, but Wall Street analysts remained largely bullish about the company’s aggressive spending plans.
This remains one of the most amazing trends in the tech industry. No matter what happens to Amazon, analysts stay bullish. Any other company would be trying to explain that everything is okay, but Amazon gets a free pass every quarter.
Can Apple grow a forest
Lisa Jackson, Apple’s lead on Environment work, and a group of colleagues went out to dinner one night. They ate, drank, and came up with a plan to ensure almost 1 million acres of forests are responsibly managed by 2020.
This is what I love about Apple—they aren’t just about getting products out to consumers, they think about everything along the way, including the impact they have on the environment.
Cheers, Lisa Jackson!
Apple store approved for Carnegie Library
Apple has finalized terms with Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia, to lease a portion of the Carnegie Library at at Mount Vernon Square, described as a newly transformed convention and entertainment district in downtown Washington D.C.
That is going to be a beautiful store.
Goodbye iPod, and thanks for all the tunes
Poor one out for the iPod. I get why they are no longer “needed” in Apple’s lineup but they will always have a soft spot in my gadget-loving heart.
There’s a genius street artist running loose in New York, and let’s hope nobody catches him
This street art is absolutely brilliant.
Apple adjusts iPod Touch prices and storage
After removing the iPod nano and Shuffle, Apple has now adjusted the price of the iPod Touch.
iPod nano and iPod shuffle removed from Apple store
While the company is still selling the iOS-powered iPod touch, the smaller, less expensive media players are nowhere to be found.
I suppose it had to happen at some point.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezos becomes the world’s richest person
When markets opened on Thursday, Bezos had a net worth of $90.6 billion, putting him $500 million ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Amazon stock opened up 1.6% on Thursday, adding $1.4 billion to Bezos’ net worth.
That’s just an incredible amount of money.
The Tasty One Top by BuzzFeed
I had no idea BuzzFeed was developing and selling hardware and this may be a complete bust but the idea – cooking made easier through technology – is one I can get behind as a beginning cook myself.
Macpaw acquires The Unarchiver
Not sexy news but for us old timers who remember the days of Stuffit Expander and the like, this is kind of interesting. The Unarchiver is my app of choice for the job and I’m glad to hear it will continue to exist.
Man accused of smuggling king cobras in potato chip cans
You know that thing where you open a canister of peanuts and a spring loaded snake pops out, scaring the heck out of you?
Take a look at the second picture in the linked story. I will never ever open a Pringles can again without first shaking it.
Creepy.
Apple ordered to pay $506 million to university in patent dispute
A U.S. judge on Monday ordered Apple Inc to pay $506 million for infringing on a patent owned by the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s patent licensing arm, more than doubling the damages initially imposed on Apple by a jury.
There is a second lawsuit pending that alleges later Apple devices also infringe on the patent. Apple is appealing.
Trump says Apple will build three manufacturing plants in U.S.
“I spoke to [Mr. Cook], he’s promised me three big plants—big, big, big,” Mr. Trump said as part of a discussion about business-tax reform and business investment. “I said you know, Tim, unless you start building your plants in this country, I won’t consider my administration an economic success. He called me, and he said they are going forward.”
Apple declined to comment.
I guess Tim won’t be giving Trump any secret information on the next iPhone.
Assembling the Porsche 911 Turbo S
I want to visit the Porsche factory one day.
Stone Sour’s Christian Martucci talks guitars
Great guitarist and we like a lot of the same players.
Adobe announces Flash is dead
Adobe on Tuesday announced that Flash is dead, but not until the end of 2020. This will presumably give any developers still using the technology to move to another platform. […]
The most improved Apple app in iOS 11
I’ve been using iOS 11 betas for a while now and one of the apps that I’m really impressed with is Maps. I don’t know why, but I use mapping apps a lot to test them out—it’s a strange habit that I developed years ago and I still do it today.
Linkin Park’s Bennington filmed Carpool Karaoke before his death
Earlier this month, the band tweeted an on-set photo with Bennington pictured alongside Linkin Park band members Joe Hahn and Mike Shinoda, and Ken Jeong, best known for his role as Ben Chang on the NBC sitcom Community.
I really hope Apple airs this episode.
Apple appoints Deirdre O’Brien to lead human resources as vice president of People
“vice president of People” sounds….odd.

A smart fish tank left a casino vulnerable to hackers
CNNTech:
Hackers attempted to steal data from a North American casino through a fish tank connected to the internet, according to a report from security firm Darktrace.
Despite extra security precautions set up on the fish tank, hackers still managed to compromise the tank to send data to a device in Finland before the threat was discovered and stopped.
“Someone used the fish tank to get into the network, and once they were in the fish tank, they scanned and found other vulnerabilities and moved laterally to other places in the network,” Justin Feir, director for cyber intelligence and analysis at Darktrace, explained to CNN Tech.
Why connect a fish tank to the internet? So you can monitor/feed your fish from anywhere in the world.
With great convenience comes great hackability.
Chester Bennington, Linkin Park Singer, Is Dead at 41
Brian Elias, the chief of operations for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, confirmed the death and said it was being investigated as a possible suicide. Mr. Elias said that law enforcement authorities responded to a call shortly after 9 a.m. Pacific Time and were investigating a death in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County.
So sad.
Clips now features Disney and Pixar characters and new graphic overlays
Users can now add classic Disney and Pixar characters to their videos. Clips 1.1 features animated overlays of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck. The app also includes characters from Pixar’s Toy Story and Inside Out, so users can choose to star with Woody or Jessie, or show their emotions with Joy, Fear and others. To complement the collection of characters, new Disney-designed posters can be added to videos as playful title cards to help tell a story.
Clips is a great Apple video creation app. This is a very cool update.
Welcome to outer space view
Editor’s note: Starting today, you can now explore the International Space Station in Street View in Google Maps. Thomas Pesquet, Astronaut at the European Space Agency (ESA), spent six months aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as a flight engineer. He returned to Earth in June 2017, and in this post he tells us about what it’s like to live on the ISS and his experience capturing Street View imagery in zero gravity.
Damn, that’s cool.
Apple sends top privacy execs to Australia
Apple has sent its top privacy executives to Australia twice in the past month to lobby government officials over proposed new laws that would require companies to provide access to encrypted messages.
I’m glad to see that Apple is being proactive on this proposed legislation. I hope the government understands exactly what they’re asking tech companies to do and the consequences.
Transmit 5 review: File transfer utility expands support for cloud services
I’ve been a “loyal” Transmit user for many years and, by extension, a big fan of the parent company Panic. This isn’t the kind of app everyone needs but, if you need it, you’ll appreciate the updates to it.
