Amazon offers high bounties for used iPads on eve of Apple event
Wired Gadget Lab:
Amazon is offering surprisingly high bounties for used iPads, proving that even the bottom feeders of Apple’s tablet line-up still generate significant public interest. As at press time, Amazon’s partner merchants were offering as much as $500 for a like-new iPad 2 with 3G or $320 for a first-gen iPad, depending on features and conditions. The used devices are typically either refurbished or sold as-is, often through Amazon. Sellers don’t receive cash, but rather store credit — a nice way for Amazon to ensure it retains you as a customer, and benefits more than once from the buy-back transaction.
I use my iPad like an iPad, not like a PC
People keep talking about the iPad and if it can replace their PC. The truth is, for a lot of people it can replace the PC, but I think many people are looking at this the wrong way. […]

Orangutans across the world may soon join the ranks of millions of humans as proud owners of new iPads. As strange as that may sound, a conservation group is testing its “Apps for Apes” program, allowing orangutans to communicate with each other remotely via the iPad’s video chat technology.
Very cool.

AT&T, data plans and app makers
This silly plan by AT&T has been out for a few days but Matt Alexander summed up my feelings nicely: Although AT&T might frame this as innovation, such maneuvering is transparently self-serving. Evidently tired of having the customer blame them … Continued

The Apple product that scares Wintel vendors
Tim Bajarin:
Yes, the iPad is a real concern for the PC vendors as Apple has a huge lead in tablets and strong demand. But if Apple starts eating into their laptop market share, this will have the greatest impact on these PC vendors in the future and make it even harder for them to make strong profits on this part of their laptop business.
Tim brings up a good point. You could argue that Wintel vendors are scared of everything Apple does because they don’t understand how to compete with them. The iPad is a perfect example of that. However, it must scare the hell out of them when Apple starts eating their lunch in the laptop market.
Apple is attacking the PC vendors from both sides — one with the iPad and the other with the MacBook Air.

In summation it’s a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Ice Cream Sandwich and a slightly modified case.

Now users will be able to view an app’s privacy policy before downloading.
Screens 2.0 VNC client for Mac, iPhone, iPad
I’ve been playing around with Screens 2.0 all day and I love it. The app allows you to connect your Mac or iOS device to another computer on the network, see its screen and interact with the computer. I tried it on my Mac and iPhone, but haven’t gotten around to the iPad yet, but I haven’t had a single problem. It took a couple of tries to nail the position of my finger when using the iPhone version, but that’s a minor user thing.
