This is going to be a bittersweet concert. From all indications, Downie, the Tragically Hip’s lead singer and soul of the band, is putting on amazing performances on his last tour.

Many of us are understandably squeamish about cadavers but the story of how much good we can do after our death is a good one to know. One of my favorite books is “Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers” (affiliate link) by Mary Roach.

For me, this has been the best story of the 2016 Olympics.

It’s hard to overstate Apple’s desire and need to be successful in China. It has become one of, if not the most important market in the world for them.

If you’ve never seen “Airplane” (what is wrong with you!?), these may seem like stupid, silly jokes. If you have seen “Airplane”, you’ll likely laugh out loud at these stupid, silly jokes. But you also might be surprised at what the number one joke was.

To be more accurate, Buffett’s company, Berkshire Hathaway, made the purchase. It makes a difference because, while Buffet has been personally critical of technology stocks, Berkshire Hathaway has recently hired a couple of tech fund managers who are much more bullish on Apple. That’s likely what happened here.

If you’ve never had the opportunity to get far away from city lights to see the “true” night sky, you owe it to yourself to do it. Awe inspiring.

This article was a lot more interesting than it had any right to be. I’ve never roasted a whole chicken, preferring to just cook the individual pieces I need (usually breasts or thighs, depending on the recipe) but, when I need a lot of chicken, I always grab a rotisserie bird from the supermarket if only for convenience and speed’s sake.

This is one of those silly little things that make me smile whenever I read about it.

I watched this live and felt so bad for him. Great to see him being a stand up guy and taking full responsibility for what is, in the grand scheme of things, really not that big of a deal.

This is pretty cool and a little weird.

It’s remarkable that the question even has to be asked. When I shattered my wrist in a motorcycle accident, I was appalled at how poorly the doctors treated me. I wasn’t a human being – I was just an injury that needed to be fixed. One doctor grabbed my wrist and twisted it so much, I literally punched him in the chest. “It’s broken, you idiot!” He didn’t seem to associate the injured wrist with a person on the other end of it.

Is it just me or does this seem like a really stupid idea?

This story is all kinds of depressing. Since I’ve started to learn how to cook, I’ve fallen in love with olive oil. Depressing to know that the vast majority of what I’ve been using is adulterated at the very least and most likely an out and out fake at the very worst.

Honnold has always fascinated me. I’ve watched all of his Youtube videos and simply can’t comprehend how he can possibly do what he does. Turns out, he may literally be wired differently than the rest of us.

Watch this interview. Listen to the tone of these two young men (even if you need subtitles to understand their Irish accents). They are simply excited to be in Rio, representing their country. They are not world famous. Their event isn’t being held in prime time. There’s no NBC puff piece about them and their hardscrabble upbringing. I saw this when the swimming events began and thought, why are they there? Now it makes sense.

The problem is, we humans are generally really bad at seeing the future, even when it is blindingly obvious. Self-driving and autonomous cars sound really fun, convenient and science fiction-y but we are ignoring the other side of the coin.

Good news for Apple and I hope it’s not bad news for Flipboard. Apple has made a lot of hires and moves in the field of health care. It’s going to be really interesting to see what fruit it bears.
