Apple says it is reopening more stores

Apple: >To our customers: As of today, nearly 100 of our stores globally have been able to open their doors to our customers again. We wanted to share a bit about how we’re carrying forward our commitment to care: how it’s informing our decision‑making, the significant steps we’re taking to keep everyone who visits one of our stores safe, and the ways in which our stores will look a little different.

The commitment remains centered on moving forward only when there is confidence that customers can be served safely in physical locations. Every available piece of data is reviewed — including local case numbers, short- and long-term trends, and guidance provided by national and local health officials. These decisions are never rushed, and a reopening doesn’t guarantee permanent operation, as stores may temporarily close again whenever local conditions call for preventive action.

Additional measures are being introduced as well. Face coverings will be required for teams and customers, with masks supplied to anyone who arrives without one. Temperature checks will take place at the entrance, and posted health-related questions will help identify individuals experiencing symptoms — such as cough or fever — or those recently exposed to someone infected with COVID-19. Throughout the day, enhanced deep cleanings are being performed, with heightened focus on surfaces, demo products, and high-traffic sections of the store, supported by professional janitorial services that help maintain a consistently sanitized environment.

Personally, there’s rarely a compelling reason for me to visit an Apple Store even under normal circumstances, and even less so right now. Still, it will be fascinating to see how Apple manages these changes, and there’s little doubt they will execute them with the precision and care expected from the brand.
