∞ Study shows iOS users play, pay for more games

If you’re an iOS developer chasing the money by making a game, you’re on the right track, if a new study from Nielsen research is any indication.

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]The study says that iPhone users tend to spend twice as much time playing games as the average mobile gamer 14.7 hours each month, compared to the industry average of 7.8 hours per month.

93 percent of app downloaders are willing to pay for games, compared to 76 percent for news (regardless of platform). iPhone, Windows 7 and Android phone users are the most likely to have actually downloaded games, while Blackberry phone users tend to favor games that are pre-loaded on their devices.

Games are, by far, the most popular category of apps that have been used by those polled within the past 60 days. Weather, social networking and navigation software is also popular, while health, educational and personal care software comes in near the bottom.
