∞ EVE Online adds new character creator

CCP has announced the release of EVE Online: Incursion 1.1, a new version of their massively multiplayer online role playing game for Mac OS X and Windows. The update is free for all registered players, who will receive the update automatically the next time they connect to play (it was deployed on Tuesday afternoon).

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Incursion 1.1 introduces a new character creator that enables players to dramatically reshape the look of their in-game avatars. The character creator is the first example of what CCP calls “Carbon” technology which will bring new immersive capabilities to the game in the future.

The character creator enables users to “sculpt” 3D avatars using 112 morph targets, including 92 on the head alone, providing users with the ability to create intricately detailed human forms for their in-game pilots.

Also new in this release is a revision to the Planetary Interaction system, contracts system, EVE voice beta and the addition of more than forty storyline missions.

CCP advises players that the Sansha’s Nation “Incursions” will begin in a week – the story provides players with a chance to win rewards and see system-wide effects by participating in an epic “Player Vs Environment” (PVE) storyline.

EVE Online is free for the first 14 days. It costs $14.95 to purchase, plus a $5 activation fee, which includes 30 days of game time. Thereafter you need to pay a fee to play, which starts at $14.95 per month.

Set thousands of years in the future, EVE Online depicts an environment where mankind has populated the far reaches of a distant galaxy. Different factions vie for control of territory and resources. Players pilot starships that can ferry cargo, go on battles, join corporations or wage war against other players and in-game characters in giant fleets.
