∞ Reports: Verizon to offer unlimited data on iPhone

There are several reports out today that claim when Verizon introduces the iPhone on its network users will be able to get an unlimited data plan.

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Citing “sources close to Verizon,” John Paczkowski at AllThingsD says an unlimited data plan should help Verizon distinguish its service from that of AT&T. The data plans at AT&T are currently capped.

In June 2010, AT&T capped its iPhone data plans at 2GB for the largest plan and 200MB for the smaller plan. The larger plan costs $25, while the small costs $15.

Verizon’s current unlimited data plans cost $30, which could do a lot to lure potential customers away from AT&T that are angry about the data cap.

Citing its own sources, the Wall Street Journal also says that Verizon will offer its users an unlimited data plan option when the iPhone is introduced.

Verizon on Friday invited the press to a special event in New York, presumably to unveil the iPhone on its network.
