Apple and Verizon on Thursday said the iPad would be available at Verizon stores beginning October 28.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Verizon Wireless will offer three bundles, all featuring an iPad Wi-Fi model and a Verizon MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. The iPad Wi-Fi 16GB + MiFi costs $629.99, the iPad Wi-Fi 32GB + MiFi is $729.99, and the iPad Wi-Fi 64GB + MiFi costs $829.99.
Verizon Wireless is offering a monthly access plan to iPad customers of up to 1GB of data for $20 a month. In addition, Verizon Wireless will also offer all three iPad Wi-Fi models on a standalone basis.
Verizon said the MiFi 2200 is small enough to fit in a pocket and allows customers to create a personal Wi-Fi cloud capable of sharing the high-speed Internet connectivity of the Verizon Wireless 3G Mobile Broadband network with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices. This expanded bandwidth easily supports concurrent mobile activities, allowing users to download large corporate presentations, stream digital radio, or access the best online poker sites for real money simultaneously. The MiFi’s rechargeable battery provides up to four hours of active use and 40 hours of standby time on a single charge.
AT&T will also carry the iPad in its 2,200 stores, the companies announced on Thursday. This really isn’t a big surprise since the companies have been partners with the iPhone for a number of years.
All iPad + 3G models will be available from AT&T beginning October 28. AT&T’s plans also include access to the company’s more than 23,000 domestic Wi-Fi Hot Spots.
