With its incredible popularity, it’s not a big surprise that the iPad has been nominated for a People’s Design Award.

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]With a slogan of “What is Good Design? You Decide!!” the People’s Design Award is all about what the people think is the best. That means your vote counts.

The awards are part of the National Design Week that takes place October 9-17. It’s organized by Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution, which is the only museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design.

Voting closes at 6:00 p.m. EST on October 12, 2010. The winners will be announced at the National Design Awards gala in New York City on October 14.

Apple is no stranger to awards. Jonny Ive, Apple’s Vice President of Industrial Design has received numerous awards over the years, including a National Design Award for Designer of the Year in 2007.
