∞ TapeDeck 1.3 adds lossless audio recording

I just couldn’t help writing about the new version of TapeDeck from SuperMegaUltraGroovy. TapeDeck 1.3 adds the ability to record lossless audio using the Apple Lossless Audio Codec in High Quality mode. The new change will be a big feature for existing users and will most likely draw quite a few new users to the app.

While highly compressed, small MP3 files were coveted features years ago, the ability to record lossless audio has certainly gained in popularity over the past few years.

TapeDeck has one big advantage over opening larger apps — speed. The app opens very quickly and is ready to record. That’s huge for musicians like me that want to get a quick melody down. The audio files can then be dragged into GarageBand, Logic, Pro Tools or similar app.

If you’re a bit older, you’ll also enjoy TapeDeck’s interface. It certainly takes me back.

TapeDeck is a free update for registered users and costs $25 to purchase.
