Apple on Tuesday introduced updated iPod touch and iPod nano models. The iPod touch now starts at $199, while the iPod nano costs $129.

The new iPod touch, which ships on October 12, 2011. It comes in 8GB, 32GB and 64GB models for $199, $299 and $399 respectively. It comes in either white or black, like the iPhone 4S.

Apple’s iPod Classic, the one reminiscent of the first iPod design, is apparently running low in the supply channel. This has led some to speculate that the iPod may be in for a refresh sometime in the near future. Apple could update the Classic at anytime, and because it’s not one of its flashier models, it certainly wouldn’t require an event. I love my Classic.

I wouldn’t doubt that Apple is preparing a refresh to the iPod classic. An update to the iPod classic is overdue.
