Last week, Bleeding Cool reported on DC Comics’ plans to release 100 graphic novels exclusively on the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Well now the other shoe has dropped. I understand that Barnes & Noble executives are furious over this, specifically citing DC’s reluctance to release any of their graphic novels on the Nook Color, Barnes & Noble’s own colour E-reading device.

Amazon has introduced an HTML5-based Kindle Cloud Reader. The software lets you read Kindle e-books online or offline. It works with Mac or PC paired with Chrome or Safari browsers, and the iPad using the Safari browser.

There has been a lot of talk about how much Apple will charge for books in its iBookstore, mostly because it is believed that Apple will charge more than Amazon. That may not be the case. A report from someone that has seen the iBookstore says the prices are exactly the same for Amazon and Apple.

Anyway, at the moment, out of the 32 eBooks featured in the New York Time’s Bestsellers section, 27, including the entire top 10 are priced at $9.99.

Even though Apple has many of the top book publishers signed up for its iBookstore, one of the largest — Random House — is still missing. While the company conceded the iPad and similar products were here to stay, executives are still being cautious.

I’m not a big fan of the Kindle, but some people do like it. Amazon already has an app for the iPhone, but now the company released an app for Mac OS X too. The app requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher.

The app allows you to download Kindle books you already own, and read them at leisure on your Mac; synchronization of your progress through the book is automatic, and will keep track with your Kindle or iPhone reading.

I’ve never been a fan of the Kindle. I know there are a lot of people out there that like the device, but it just makes no sense to me. This doesn’t surprise me the least little bit.

ChangeWave recently conducted a survey of 3,171 consumers the week after Apple announced the iPad, and the results suggest that the forthcoming device is poised to make a huge splash in the e-reader market.
