The latest issue of Billboard features Camila Cabello on the cover in a stunning photo shot outside a rental home in Beverly Hills — with an iPhone 7 Plus using the new Portrait mode.
“It’s amazing as a photographer to see how technology has so rapidly changed now that the phone in your pocket can also be a high-end camera,” the photographer Miller Mobley says.
The day of the shoot, despite the pouring rain, an eager Cabello arrived nearly 30 minutes early with her mom by her side. For the next eight hours or so, she played “LSD” by A$AP Rocky on repeat and seemingly never grew weary of standing in front of the camera — or in this case, the iPhone.

Mobley explains how working with an iPhone allows for ease of use in the sense that it’s smaller and creates a more casual nature when shooting, which proved especially true when working with a younger star such as Cabello.
“It was interesting to see Camila’s response to shooting with the iPhone,” Mobley says. “Because of her age and the generation she’s grown up with, an iPhone has always been around and accessible. For a 50-plus year old it might have been a different vibe, but with Camila it was just another camera, not a phone.”
