This Bill Gates interview came out about a month ago, but I just watched it this morning, thought it was worth sharing.
The whole thing is relatively short, all interesting, but the Steve Jobs bit kicks in at about 2:40 in. I definitely get a sense that Bill held a real reverence for Steve.
Let go of the coattails, Bill. The magic doesn’t rub off.
At this point, the only thing Gates is qualified to speak publicly about is the mindset required to build a fortune on mediocre software.
bill Gates == late 20th century robber baron who made a fortune squashing competition, now faced with the delta of mortality.
Rockefeller was a philanthropist at the end of his career too, trying to bribe his way into an important legacy.
Carnegie, too. All regrowing a partial conscience after retiring, all trying to buy their way out of the purgatories they created for themselves.
