Monday is the tenth anniversary of the iPhone launch

This video shows the announcement at the 2007 Macworld Expo. I was in the room and it was an amazing experience but, ten years ago, none of us could have predicted how the iPhone would literally change the world.

  1. I’m not sure I would agree with you that, “… none of us could have predicted how the iPhone would literally change the world.”

    I also was there.

I remember when Jobs announced the price of the iPhone. The intake of breath lowered the air pressure in the room.

  2. I knew it was going to be really big—how big, no—but it was going to be great, and it was and has been and is.

I also love how the mature ecosystem now encompasses Apple Watch, Powerbeats 3 wireless, and Apple TV.

I bought the first one for $600. The current 7+ 128 is almost $1K. But it’s soooo much better, and such a more worthy realization of the original concept.

I’m very happy to have been on board for all of this decade.

  3. I tend to disagree. It’s easy for me to say now, but I could see immediately what was going to happen and told every rich person I knew to buy Apple stock.

Anyone with vision could see it clear as day the first time the iPhone was demoed. The only thing that surprised me was that other companies would copy it so blatantly, and that they would be allowed to get away with it. Now that was surprising.
