Oh Jim! I hope you put up your original discussion of the Great Apple Music Experiment. The story isn’t exactly over, even tho you have most of your music back. It’s a great data point is relevant to two long-term issues. (1) Apple’s continuing efforts to “get” the cloud, and (2) their tendency to decide what “everyone” wants and cater only to that “choice”. That’s never really right since their real user base is far more heterogeneous and interesting than any simple stereotype. Each time, they need to go though a process in which we have the chance to teach Apple about ourselves. Your experience is an important part of that feedback Loop (pun intended). As your truly special guest wrote, how this works is “as clear as mud”. I’m sure that your discussion at that point in time sheds light these two issues.
I moved recently and now I know what it’s like to be a Canadian (or anywhere else where bandwidth caps are common). I now live about 1 hour west of Gruber, two miles off the major artery that cuts through Pennsylvania. Somehow I picked a house that is not only unreached by Verizon FiOS (not all that surprising), but is also not serviced by the demonic hellspawn that is Comcast. So….250GB a month on a regional cable provider with, 3-5GB upstream bandwidth.
It’s been well over a decade that I had to worry about how much internet I use. I definitely won’t kick off large Dropbox syncs at home, I wouldn’t dream of trying Backblaze unless I did the initial backup from my office, and I’m careful how many games or movies I rent/buy a month.
So, for me, it’s now impossible to be a cord cutter unless I’m very selective what and how much I watch each month.

My iPad Air 2 is bent. I sat on it when I did’t realize it was on the couch. But I’m not replacing it because it’s doing just great, otherwise. It’s unique!
