You can now see what apps are available for the Apple Watch, even if you don’t have one of the devices. Just open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, which comes with the latest iOS update, and you can browse the available apps. Currently there are over 3,000 apps for Apple Watch. I expect that to increase very quickly.
App Store for Apple Watch is live
Only 3,000? Google Watch (or whatever that thing is called) and Pebble must have millions by now, amiright?
Apple Watch is such a fail train. Pfff…3,000. That’s what you get for not being first!
I think it’s way confusing the way everyone (including Apple) refers to these as “Apple Watch Apps” when in fact they run on the iPhone. Soon we will have actual apps that run on the watch and then what do we call those? It seems that at the very least, Apple should have come up with a differentiator for these things now, instead of having that confusion down the road.
It’s exciting to see how this works out. We may be observing the early stages of a whole new business. Or we may be watching the new hula hoop.
