MythBusters’ brilliant take on Gorilla Glass

Watch as MythBusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman take on Gorilla Glass, the super strong glass that protects your mobile phone.

First things first, know up front that the video below was produced for Corning. But that said, I found it incredibly fun to watch and I learned a lot along the way.

There are two parts to this video. Part one is here. But to me, the more interesting of the two is the one below, the one that focuses on the compressive strength technology that makes Gorilla Glass so strong. Enjoy!

Man I still wish MythBusters was still on the air.

Interesting, but it would be better with just the actual science and without the advertising spiel. Then, the bits of it that are actually of the most interest (the details of the process) could be revealed instead of purposely obfuscated. Capitalism and Science do not mix well.

    • The point is to get the benefits across, not to make people’s eyes glaze over.

You can tell they were limited by the advert because they were not allowed to hammer the Gorilla Glass window. I wanted to see that! And the other question is why was the gorilla glass only on one side? Would 2 sides be better? Why or why not?

  • Wow, this is so awkward.
