Back in March, Billy Joel came on the Tonight Show to take Jimmy Fallon’s iPad for an incredible ride with just a brilliant duet.
Now it’s Robert Plant‘s turn. The only thing that could have made this better is if they launched into Babe I’m Gonna Leave You. Now that would have been something to see.
Does anyone have a link to the app that they used?
Loopy –
unfortunately when I paste the link it’s going crazy. But it’s “Loopy HD”.
One more try – https://appsto.re/i6gQ3LB
No offence to Jimmy and Robert, but that’s kind of sad. I think you have to really be looking through some very thick rose coloured glasses, focussed intently on the 1970’s, to really enjoy this.
Just to be clear Joseph – you’ll also need a way to get audio into the iPad. Under his desk, Fallon has a wireless mic receiver and an (probably expensive) audio interface. You can use the built in mic, but it’s not going to sound all that great (may be fine depending on your purposes, I guess). You could probably get away with something like iRig, camera connection kit, or one of the iOS mics if you wanted to go cheap.
Audiobus (and now Apple’s IAA) makes Loopy a really fantastic way to sketch out quick ideas using any capable iOS music app… I use it to play live and mix down from Gadget, Chordion, Caustic, Figure etc… then (sometimes) export to Logic. Yes I could use Cubasis or Garageband or other iPad DAWs, but nothing beats Loopy’s simplicity.
Perhaps it was all in fun??? We can’t all be that serious all of the time!!!
