HBO’s John Oliver’s brilliant net neutrality rant Posted on Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 at 3:31 am. PTWritten by Dave Mark Terrific. All the way through. satcomer His reference to the mob is perfect! marcintosh Ironically, his show airs on cable so the cord cutters who would most benefit didn’t hear his brilliant argument for net neutrality. Moeskido There are ways. marcintosh True. I don’t have cable or HBO and I just saw it. I guess I meant that it’s ironic that he’s calling out the cable companies when they are kind of responsible for his show happening. Moeskido They’re responsible for having made the decision to sell access to it. Oliver and his producers are responsible for making it. I’d rather pay him directly. marcintosh It’s an HBO Production, it’s their show. They can get another host when Oliver’s contract runs out if they want and make it “Last Week Tonight with [Insert Name].” Just like the Daily Show. Mother Hydra This is such a huge change in thinking, and I’m glad folks like Louis CK and Aziz Ansari are doing an end-run around big cable. http://www.laugh-eat.com/ kyron now if only Louie could make his show funny again… Mother Hydra Usenet allows me to spite content providers. It is lovely Moeskido John Oliver is indeed terrific. He nailed this issue through its forehead. Corvus Totally awesome! Billy Razzle This is glorious.
