Who’s got your back? Apple, that’s who.

From the EFF report, Protecting Your Data From Government Requests:

Apple earned credit in all 6 categories in this year’s Who Has Your Back report. Apple’s rating is particularly striking because it had lagged behind industry competitors in prior years, earning just one star in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Apple shows remarkable improvement in its commitments to transparency and privacy.

Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter, among others, also got the same rating as Apple.

After Apple had only one star the three years prior, saying “Apple, that’s who” is a bit strange…

What’s striking me as pretty awesome is that aside from super super SUPER creepy targeted ads, Facebook and Google are taking privacy pretty seriously too.

Apple is subject to US Laws. which just covers 5% of the worlds population.

Apple doesn’t dare say anything about non-citizens. Just another Kabuki Dance.

Apple is subject to the laws of every single country it operates in, which is about 60 countries.

This is egg in the face of EFF, who have been ranting about how Apple is evil because they won’t let you recompile OS X for more than a decade now.
