How many of those have logged into a paid Office 365 account, though.
I would guess a very tiny percentage of that. Or 23, whichever is smaller.
I would guess a high percentage, as MS didn’t hide the fact that a subscription was necessary. The app designs for the iPad are very good, especially for MS.
One can only imagine how successful Office on the iPad might have been if Balmer hadn’t been so determined to keep it away. As an early app, it might have owned the market.
It already owns the market. The Office apps dominate the top Productivity apps in the iPad App Store chart.
It would be very disappointing if it didn’t take the top of the charts so soon after launch.
And if they made it available in Thailand, I would download it too. But they haven’t. For some unfathomable reason.
“so soon”… It’s been top of the charts for almost two months now.
If the percentage was high, I suspect Microsoft would be bragging very loudly about it.
I’ll bet that’s more than the entire history of Office for OS X. Not directly comparable, I know, but it can’t be long before even the number paying customers surpasses it.
Why go through the Thai Apple store? Switch to the US store if you can.
I live and work in Thailand. All my bank accounts and credit cards are in Thailand. All the apps and content I already bought is on the Thai store. I am not a US citizen. How easy is it to switch to the US store given all that?
Simple. Takes 2 mins
Without any payment method tied to a US address, it used to be extremely difficult (if at all possible). How does one do it?

See where it says “You’ll need to be able to pay for things in the country you have chosen.”? That means you need a payment method (credit card, PayPal) with an address in that country – or a gift card for that country’s store.
You’re right, not so easy, or at least probably not worth the trouble.
Just grab a US iTunes card on eBay – just watch out for fakes! http://www.ebay.com/bhp/us-itunes-gift-card
I don’t know about that. If they did, that would give tacit endorsement to Apple and its iPad, which would be (is) a bitter pill.
You may be right; in the past, Microsoft certainly treated its Mac products like the crazy aunt in the attic. But their new CEO might have fewer issues about openly cultivating a money-making product segment. At least I’m hoping he does.
I downloaded and used it once to view a document. Sucks. Deleted it. Download numbers don’t mean squat.
I was able to switch to the Canadian app store without a Canadian form of payment. Are Visa cards not good worldwide?
I still can’t understand why anyone would pay for this when you can get a free Outlook email address and use it to access Word, Excel & PowerPoint via Safari for free.
Yup, and it should remain there for a long time. They took off from 0.
