10.9: Disable power button sleep

Mac OS X Hints:

Here is a way to disable sleeping when pressing the power button on 10.9.2.

Great tip. That action is incredibly annoying.

Geez, I’ve been hoping to find something like this. Thanks!

You’re welcome! I’m glad I found it too. I HATE that Apple has set the power button to do that.

seem like they changed the default behavior in 10.9.2 as well. Tapping the power button does nothing. press n hold different range of time does sleep, dialog, n hard power down. https://discussions.apple.com/message/24997114#24997114 The terminal seem to make it always bring up dialog

Yeah, this is what I see.

I don’t get that action. Did you guys use a defaults write to get it?

For me, tapping the power button just does nothing.

Replace, at the end of the command, the ‘no’ with a ‘yes’ and you will return it to the default Apple way.

That’s not necessarily true; sometimes Apple uses the absence of a key to switch behaviour, which is why a defaults delete is the default.

I am running at default, and don’t get a sleep from tapping the power button. That’s why I was wondering if you guys had previously tried to disable something and opted into this behaviour.
