Heartwarming Google ad

Nicely done.

  • it almost got me but I pulled one of the moves from the cop on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and made my tear get back in there!

    • lkalliance

I couldn’t make it get back in there.

Even though I don’t understand a word they’re saying (except “happy birthday”), the context is very touching. Can anyone come up with a subtitle?

Basically Partitioning of India and Pakistan separated the two old gentleman. Grand daughter used Google to find the Pakistani and reunited him with Indian Grand father as a birthday present.

PS. Partition was caused by Britain if you didn’t know to keep Iranian oil safe. This policy is continued with US cold war to the present.

Not very nice now that you know the context.

The circumstances may have been difficult that caused the separation, but the video is still touching regardless.

Watch it with flash, it has the subtitles

Thanks! I’ve disabled Flash for so long I forgot it’s “required” for some things. 😉

          same here

@johnshum:disqus Please turn on “CC” in the youtube video. Translates pretty well.

    • lkalliance

I watched it without first as well, and afterwards with CC. I found it more touching without knowing what they were saying: the emotions weren’t filtered by the words.

    Nice piece.

Very good ad. It’s pretty close to what I would do to try and find a long lost childhood friend. Great job showing how Google empowers people.
