Homeland Security recognizes Android as primary malware target

According to a new report, Android was the subject of 79 percent of malware attacks on mobile devices. Symbian devices got 19 percent of attacks. iOS devices? Less than 1 percent.

Well, now that just sums it up.

The only “good thing” from the report is it is only Gingerbread (2.3.3 through 2.3.7), which John Paczkowski conveniently left off. The bad thing is…Google can’t seem to get rid of it.

One thing I’m curious about with these reports. Security software often complains that it can’t block/detect problems if it can’t be installed in the first place. So is iOS actually at 1% by indiscriminately blocking everything, or is it higher but no one can tell?

I am wondering why I am not at ALL surprised. But malware authors not only like to hit vulnerable systems, but also technically unsophisticated users.
