Canada honors Rush with a stamp

Congrats to Rush and The Guess Who.

I would buy a stamp with either of those bands’ faces on it before I’d buy one sporting a picture of the Guess Who.

    Hey, Jim, take off!

Oh, great. Because Rush fans weren’t already insufferable enough. 🙂

The Guess Who are one of the truly underappreciated bands of the late ’60s / early ’70s. Burton Cummings was a helluva vocalist.

Rush is not really my cup of tea; I appreciate the sheer chops of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and (especially) Neil Peart, but to my ear they just sound mechanical (especially Neil Peart). Especially since Keith Moon, one of the most fluid drummers ever, was one of Peart’s major influences.

Noticed in the linked article that the Tragically Hip were also honored. I haven’t liked much of their stuff in quite a while, but “Fully Completely” and “Day For Night” from the early ’90s are still staggeringly good in my book.

  • I wish I could have heard them play in Halifax

  • Ben Lacy

Great honors for both! I’ve always liked The Guess Who, but Rush has always been, and probably always will be, my favorite band overall.

If I still lived in Canada and still sent paper mail, I would use the Rush stamp exclusively.
