Ann and Nancy Wilson’s tribute to Led Zeppelin: Stairway to Heaven

Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart) and John Bonham’s son Jason, backed by the Joyce Garrett Youth Choir, do an amazing rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” that brings the guys to tears. (Recorded at the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin last December.)

Oh my gosh. That was fantastic. Loved seeing the guys in the balcony watching this. They deserve to be honored with a rendition like that.

Truly. And Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart do Zep justice with every single cover they do of their songs. They even did great with Battle of Evermore and Going to California.

  • Moeskido

Gorgeous. One of the clearest, most beautiful voices in all of rock.

    • bjwanlund

      Amen to that.

      • Moeskido

I didn’t appreciate Heart enough when they were at their peak, because (a) New York rock radio overplayed hits until I couldn’t listen to them any more and (b) I wasn’t yet in the habit of pursuing the work of bands I liked.

Love how so many great British bands like Led Zeppelin embraced American Blues and Rock ‘N Roll and fed it back to us, enriching the genre so much!

    • Moeskido

Agreed. They gave us a remarkably different way to see what had grown out of our culture.

  • Peter Cohen

One of my favorite moments in this is the react shot from Obama when he’s like, “Yeah, I used to get baked as HELL to this…”

    • Moeskido

Seriously. Probably only our second president who’d ever admit to such a thing.

  • Ann

Tears! thank you Peter and the Loop.

Ann Wilson is hands down the best female rock voice of all time. It’s only fitting that she is the one singing in tribute to one of the best and most influential rock voices of all time.
