J.C. Penney begs shoppers to come back

Wow, they must be doing very bad.

Oh wow, this is dripping with desperation.

Would that be, “they’re doing pretty badly?”

You used to be able to get decent clothes at a reasonable price at Penney’s. Now you get shitty clothes at a low, but still too much for shitty clothes price.

They also can’t seem to decide if they want to be hip, or middle-of-the-road as far as trends. As a result, you get skinny jeans in colors and patterns that only a 90 year old blind man would wear, and $7 t-shirts so thin that they can easily be mistaken for toilet paper.

It will be interesting to see how things go for them now

The one thing I’d hoped Johnson would raze & reform is their awful website. No such luck. JCP was a retail pioneer 100 years ago, a catalog mail-order innovator 50 years ago, and a technology leader with online shopping 30 years ago (Viewtron!). It’s sad that they aim for “also” now.
