Windows 8 “handed over millions of customers to Apple”

Many PC OEMs are dissatisfied with what Microsoft has done with Windows 8 and the way the company has handled the negative response to the operating system. Privately, one OEM source told me that Microsoft is “destroying” the PC industry, while another claimed that Windows 8 has “handed over millions of customers to Apple.”

Welcome, new Mac users!

So, apart from that, users are loving the new Windows.

And no amount of trash-talk can stem that tide. Justice is served.

No way this is true. Windows users won’t pay more than $400 USD for a computer. They are all “Price is everything”.

What’s almost as funny: in the old days, OEMs were treated just as poorly — if not more so — by Microsoft, but were too afraid of the bully’s power to speak publicly about it.

Can’t a brave OEM just decide to ship PCs that boot into Desktop and puts the Start Menu back? I mean, without permission from Microsoft. That would give them the competitive advantage that customers have been asking for.

Windows 8 didn’t do it alone. Maybe if OEMs did something interesting with hardware that didn’t involve copying Apple, they wouldn’t be bleeding so bad.

I am one of “the millions” that moved to an iMac rather than deal with Windows 8. Best choice I have ever made.
