Top 10 recognizable guitar riffs

Pauline France at Fender.com:

There are tons of guitar riffs out there, but only a few have become deeply ingrained and ubiquitous in pop culture. Our Top 10 Instantly Recognizable Guitar Riffs all have something in common: They’re the ones you can’t wait to learn how to play; the ones you catch yourself humming; the ones that are revered worldwide by musicians and non-musicians alike.

There are so many riffs to chose from — Pauline picked some good ones.

I don’t know, I can’t see a list like that without Layla on it.

Perhaps Clapton doesn’t use Fender guitars?

Maybe they did not want him twice in the list.

Someone at Fender is either itching for a fight or just wants to poke a hornet’s nest. If Pauline France was ordered to do this list I feel sorry for her. There are some ultra fine riffs here but valid arguments for what has not been included, too. Glad it wasn’t my job. If I had to leave a number of ZZ Top riffs off I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror.
