How to spread an Xbox rumor

It’s just as pathetically easy to goad the rest of the tech press into publishing utter bullshit. This isn’t unique to games journalism at all.

I’m really not surprised. Actually, I’m surprised this has not shamed anyone into a public apology. Quickly checked newsblur, I don’t subscribe to any of those “news” sites so I had not noticed this.

“The games industry is the only one I can think of that will quite happily publish guesswork as news.” This guy obviously hasn’t read a single article about Apple or any other tech company in the past decade.

If I may, I suggest this “rumor blogger” be copied to the max so that tech sites be inundated with info that must be verified. Should these tech sites not verify them or highlight these articles as rumors they will lose all credibility, readership, and income. I do not own any Apple stock but I have to wonder how much higher the stock price would have been if the WSJ had noted their story to be rumor instead of fact with the singular conclusion that an alleged decrease in component orders was from decreased sales/interest in iPhones?
