Jessica Alba ditches Windows Phone for an iPhone

She helped Microsoft plug Windows Phone 8 when it was released just over a month ago. She must have dumped that thing like a hot potato as soon as she got off the stage.

Update: Chris Millar pointed out that the photo of Alba was taken in August, but posted by People today.

how does MS explain all those Jessica Alba commercials I saw all weekend then?

    • http://www.yourmaclifeshow.com/ Shawn King

Easy – SHE’S AN ACTRESS. SHE GETS PAID TO ACT.

Why do all the MacMacs think this is some kind of “real” story?

And why are we conveniently ignoring that the “story” is A) from People magazine and B) undated and C) a paid promotion?

Because when you get a high profile actor/actress to push your product, it really helps your credibility if the celebrity endorser actually USES said product. In Chicago, MS is plastering the Windows Phone 8 home screens of all these celebrities all over their ads on the streets, on buses, etc. Every other commercial I see on TV seems to be WP8 with either Will Arnett or Jessica Alba. Will Arnett is on a sitcom right now that actively uses Apple products (and has even had a couple of iPhone/Mac jokes in the script) yet he’s a big Windows Phone guy now in the commercials. Jessica Alba just flat out doesn’t use Windows Phone at all (obviously).

The point is that you use celebrity endorsers to give your product credibility. They use it and they’re cool, so the market should want to be cool like them. That’s the whole point of paying them to act in your commercial.

“it really helps your credibility if the celebrity endorser actually USES said product.”

So – when U2 started shilling for Blackberry, that somehow discredited Apple?

Will Arnett is on a sitcom right now that actively uses Apple products…yet he’s a big Windows Phone guy now in the commercials.”

Which proves one thing has nothing to do with the other.

“Jessica Alba just flat out doesn’t use Windows Phone at all (obviously).”

What’s obvious about an undated picture from an advertisement?

And yet… somehow… still not a news story.

Reminde me of that picture of “I’m a PC” John Hodges using an iPhone on the subway. Minus, you know, the MS contract.

    The check must have cleared.

      Exactly. Good for her.

  • lifetheuniverseandeverything

sad I’m doing celebrity photos research, but the photo is from July when she was on the View.

  • Yet Another Username

Well her latest tweet from 2 days ago is still “via Twitter for Windows Phone”, as it has been for about a month now. In fact, she seems to be the only celebrity who actually seems to be using the product she endorses. Good on her.

Microsoft needs to pay EVEN MORE to make her use that crap phone for at least 1 year… and then she will probably give a interview after that saying: “it was my hardest job…but as a proffissional actress, I accept every challenge…”

    • Zed

have you even used this phone? don’t call it crap until you use it

Nokia Lumia 800….one of the first Windows Mobile phones out there. I had one. Microsoft totally screw us when they said to forget about Windows 8 update, but instead just the 7.8 update…

        • sonus

Liar. The Lumia 800 was actually one of the LAST Windows Phone’s to be released. Its pretty obvious that you never owned the phone.

Before getting butthurt, get your facts straight.

            gsmarena (dot) com/nokia_lumia_800-4240.php

Nokia Lumia 800, one of the first Windows Phone made by Nokia.

            Released in 2011… now gfus

  • This is just lazy

Oh man lazy reporting again. We have this system called dates. And those photos are … Old. Ms will stumble on its own but loop should stick to writing about Apple. Everytime you made comment about competition you look like idiots. Everytime.

Jez. When Daniel Craig wears a watch it’s an Omega, Roger Federer’s is a Rolex, all the time.

Why the heck isn’t Microsoft able to choose players that really believe in the technology?

Maybe because it’s too much of a pain in the ass when it comes to a Windows phone?

really? she uses it every day!
