Newsweek closes print edition

We are announcing this morning an important development at Newsweek and The Daily Beast. Newsweek will transition to an all-digital format in early 2013. As part of this transition, the last print edition in the United States will be our Dec. 31 issue.

Can’t say this is surprising, considering the long, visible decline of a once-relevant magazine, but it’s still sad.

I await the wholesale move of Newsweek’s revenue model to pure Hit Whoring.

They were hobbled by their previous need to make a compelling case to have real companies buy ad space in the print version. Now they are free to court all the penile modification engineers they can possible contact.

“We now go to our in depth article on the global black market for weapons, but first IS PENIS NOT BIG? YOU WANT PLEASE WOMAN NOW YES?”

You know you’re old when in this day & age you still prefer to read something on paper.

This is bad news all around. It’s not just reporters & editors that will be out of work. Receptionists, office workers, janitors, delivery people, distribution workers, printers, etc… they’ll all suffer from this.

Natural progression. Industries evolve and people will adjust.
