Google schedules Android event for Oct. 29

It is widely speculated that the Mountain View-based company will announce new Nexus smartphones and an updated version of its Android operating system.

Most companies don’t use the current version of Android, how will an updated version help?

If NO ONE supports this version it would “help” by stilling being the most dominate smartphone platform.

To understand, you would have to know about the dev community of android.

And Saint Gundotra raised his Nexus up on high, saying “Consider the customers in the field. They know naught, neither do they dev. Far be It easier for them to pass through the wallet of a carrier CEO than to enter the kingdom of Winning.”

Weirdly, I hang out on a lot of Android forums, and I’ve seen no one speculate about a significant update – just a “point” update to Jelly Bean, which you’d expect with new hardware.

The fact that Graziano gives a link for every other claim but doesn’t link to anything for that one should be enough to tell you he’s blowing smoke.

I thought it was going to be the “$99″ tablet – one last chance to give these Android tablets away.

$99 rumor is plausible but I’d only say the Nexus 7, v1 would be $99 and v2 would be $199 (normal price). No different than giving away iPad 2′s when the 3 launched.

The Google Now’esque invitation leads me to believe something sweet is coming.

Jelly Bean was a point update to ICS. So it could be significant.

Onward and upward. New versions are always great. For the millions of Nexus owners, they’ll likely get it really fast (sans Sprint Galaxy Nexus w/ their slow selves).

Hopefully they put into play the promises previously mentioned regarding update cycles.

As far as updates are concerned for most of the people with current or recent hardware, Android might as well be Symbian.
