Ballmer’s bonus cut back

Microsoft Corp Chief Executive Steve Ballmer got a lower bonus than last year’s, partly for flat sales of Windows and his failure to ensure that the company provided a choice of browser to some European customers.

I wonder what they’ll do to him when Windows 8 flops and the Surface sucks balls.

Laugh about it, say everything is fine. Maybe even tout some crap numbers saying they are making in-roads. In the end, it’s easy to see the writing on the wall.

If history is any indication, absolutely nothing.

It’d be nice if this bonus cut would percolate out to other top-heavy companies that aren’t delivering as promised.

If it bothers you, don’t read it. Better yet, don’t visit the website. The reason you won’t is the reason I and others do.

They’ll give him a raise and send him to a party on my private yacht with some of my closest personal ‘advisors’.

I really want the Surface to succeed and take the Android share of the market, and give consumers a real choice between two concepts rather than the original concept and a bad copy of the original concept. Sadly, I don’t think this is likely.

Lest you think someone at Microsoft gets it (in punishing Ballmer for terrible leadership), his bonus was only cut 9%. Not his salary, just his bonus. So if Windows 8 and Surface both flop, I imagine next year they’ll cut his bonus by a whopping 20%.
