Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

The one and only Jimi Hendrix.

He is the best argument for the few that aliens exist. His music today still sounds like it comes from another planet.

    All analog baby…

And if you don’t think Jimi would have adored digital and its capabilities, you are crazy

I think a more charitable interpretation of the original post by Clyde would be “… and just think what he would have done with all the digital tools we have today.”

Was fortunate enough to see Hendrix LIVE three times… to this day I’m still blown away! Don’t believe I’ll ever have the privilege again to experience this level of creative genius, freeform innovation, and improvisational magic in its pure raw form from any source… I feel a profound sense of loss when I think of where his music might have evolved to, and regret that he isn’t still around so everyone could share in the experience! Thanks for posting this clip!

He made it look effortless. How many people in that audience do you think were focused enough to realize what they were witnessing?

I was there—not at Woodstock, but at his last gig in Honolulu almost exactly a year later on Aug 1, 1970, at the International Cultural Center. He died about a month later.

It wasn’t a super-huge hall, and in those early days of lax or almost non-existent security, I was not only allowed to bring my Nikon Ftn in, I got to walk right up to the stage and stay there during the performance. I was just learning photography then, and I got some decent shots on Kodak Tri-X 400.

I was 20 then and a huge fan during those last few years of his life—but ever since, as well.

I love listening to Hendix’s live stuff so much. Such a great sound — so meaty and full of energy. There are a fair few live albums on Spotify.

I just recently got a Marshall Blues-Breaker pedal. I think it’s supposed to sound a bit like the super-lead combo amp from the same era. Obviously it doesn’t really sound anything like a 100W floor-shaking monster, but it’s still a lot of fun, and Hendrix is pretty much all I [try to] play on it :)
