About Steve

I am still incredibly sad about Steve’s death. I haven’t been able to read the book published last year and I wonder what he could have accomplished. I will leave you with Steve narrating “The Crazy Ones.”

Cheers Steve.

It helps a little that he accomplished so much more than most of us could ever dream of. Small consolation. He not only put a ding in the universe, he inspired others to do the same.

Thanks Steve. Your legacy was and is your biggest success.

Hard to believe it’s been a year.

I read that book. Half of it was interesting biographical material about a man who helped make my career far more enjoyable and far less toxic.

The other half of the book was a demonstration of how important it is to understand technology before you try writing about it.

And don’t get me started on whose idea it was to hire a folksy noodlehead to voice the audio version.

The biography was good. Even better was “Insanely Simple” by Ken Segall. Lots of great Steve stories in there.

Steve’s life makes you realize the impact that one person can have on the world. Who knows how different the world would have been if we had him for even a few years longer. I shudder to think what it would be like if he had never lived at all. My life and my career would be completely different if not for the Macintosh. Simply stated, I would be a totally different person. What an incredible human being.

As a kid I often imagined what it be like to live during the time of someone like Henry Ford or Tesla. I’m glad to say I lived through Steve’s brief time on this earth, what a titan of industry. I was shocked at how much Steve’s death affected me, given that we only met briefly. But that was prior to my brief tenure with the co, and that seems like so long ago. Strange to type it, but the Apple products that I’ve used became very personal extensions of my mind- and as such I had a fondness for their quality and simplicity. I was never a huge Apple nut really, but had a true admiration for the complex, intricate and often contradictory person that was Steve Jobs. Life is incredible!

I ordered the book when it was first available (I may have pre-ordered it) and I have yet to crack it open. First I was putting it off until I finished some other reading but then the ‘reviews’ of the book started to come out from people I follow in the tech world and they weren’t very good. That made me consider not reading the book at all. I am sure I’ll start reading it some day and I hope I don’t have the same problems as some other readers have had with it and just put it down again before finishing.
