Google Maps adds Great Barrier Reef

Starting today, you can use Google Maps to find a sea turtle swimming among a school of fish, follow a manta ray and experience the reef at sunset—just as I did on my first dive in the Great Barrier Reef last year.

Nice.

Why can’t Apple and Google just get along? At least on maps if nothing else? Very sad that they have to put all those man-hours into rolling their own maps system. Google keeps doing cool things with Maps, like this, while Apple has a long road ahead of them just to get to where Google is.

It’s for the exact same reasons that the folk at Google weren’t happy to just ‘exist’ as apps on other platforms. That’s why they bought/developed Android. These companies are competing for the future right now.

        Yeah, good point.
