I like that Apple now gives gift cards instead of free iPods. It helps support developers and the app ecosystem. When I was a student, it was rare to meet a student who recognized the value of software and usually pirated it. Getting credit to buy apps will hopefully remind students that apps do indeed have value without taking it out of their already thin wallets.
