Maple syrup heist

About 10 million pounds of syrup was stored at the site, at a value of more than $30-million. Anne-Marie Granger Godbout, executive director of the federation, said the organization is still trying to determine how much is missing and declined to offer an estimate. But a spokesman from the Sureté du Québec said the loss was significant.

Only in Canada.

As a lover of maple syrup, I’m relieved to know there is a “global strategic maple syrup reserve” and that it is not in danger.

$3 a pound? We’ve discovered the engine to Canada’s economic growth. In the States we pay $16 for a little tiny bottle of that stuff!

If we told people that maple syrup ran thru the guts of a beaver first, we could probably ask $100 dollars a bottle.

I have to admit that I’ll be able to sleep a little better tonight knowing that somewhere out there exists a “global strategic maple syrup reserve”… I had no idea…

When I read “global strategic maple syrup reserve” I had to look to make sure I wasn’t reading The Onion.

This just in: Canadian authorities are questioning Mrs. Butterworth who is not currently charged but as a “brand spokesperson of interest.”

It’s not as sexy as shooting up a crowded theater, but we’re a low key kind of people.

I recently purchased 2000 tons of pancake mix … a little concerned I might be a prime suspect in this case …

We talked about this during lunch at work today. The leading theory is that it was an inside job: employees smuggled syrup out in their Thermoses.
