    As is typical with Cult of Morons, they get SOMETHING in every article wrong. In this case, they claim that Microsoft copied the OS X Dock with the Start Menu. Interesting research they did there, given that the Start Menu was released in 1995.

      And Microsoft borrowed the idea from the NeXT dock, which was released before 1995.

        Right. But that’s not what they said in the article. They stated that MS copied the Start Menu from OS X’s Dock.

      Did they edit it? RIght now, it says it was inspired by the Apple menu and NeXT, which is true.

    Ha – in the copy, it says you can just “toss off” apps. Guessing they didn’t run it by any non-US copy editors.

    @JimD thanks. I believe the Start Menu was inspired by both the look of the NeXT menu system and the Apple system start menu. Happy to correct it if I’m totally wrong and Microsoft didn’t get some ideas for it from both Apple and NeXT

      Rather than correcting it, it would be better if you did a LITTLE research before you throw accusations out in an article about copyright/patent infringement.

      And, other than typos, it’s always nice to ‘note’ at the end of the article when you’ve edited out errors in information; rather than just correcting them.

        there’s no errors there, i just elaborated more that the OS X dock came from NeXT and the NeXT dock and Apple’s Menu system were the inspiration behind the Start Menu. The origins of the OS X dock were used as inspiration for the Start Menu. It’s all true, but i expounded a bit and connected the dots for people like you who cry foul when there’s nothing false there to begin with.

          You didn’t “elaborate,” you completely changed what you originally wrote. OS X’s Dock did NOT inspire the Start Menu, which is what you originally claimed. There was no mention of NeXT or Apple’s menu system… just OS X’s Dock.

    But Samsung is somehow able to make their rip-off look crappier than the original. I guess they think that if it looks worse than the original, that’s OK. New Samsung motto: Like Apple, but with no taste.

    Samsung is given an operating system that goes out of its way to be completely different from everything else, yet STILL tries to emulate the style of Apple???

    I’m betting that Redmond is more pissed off than Cupertino is in this case.
