Using Mac App Store in other parts of the world

Karan Varindani:

At least in this part of the world, buying from the Mac App Store isn’t a preference. It’s the only way. There are very few apps on my Mac that haven’t been bought from the App Store, and that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

I never really considered this before. Without credit cards, it’s not really possible to purchase apps directly from the developer, so people use Gift Cards to stock up their iTunes account.

The most annoying part is that you can’t use Paypal outside of the U.S. or at least not here, which makes no sense. Since I have no credit card, gift cards it is!

I’m from Venezuela and we have some issues with getting us dollars so when I go visit my folks in the US I get iTunes Gift Cards to get apps

I guess I will have to get some Credit Cards gift cards next time =/ since some good apps are leaving the store

I don’t know if Mac Store and iOS App Store have the same rules, but when you move to another country (change your credit card), you lose most of the support from the apps you bought on the previous iOS App Store.

iCloud: If you delete an app from your iPhone and don’t have a backup in your computer, you have to buy it again. Also previous purchased app disappear from iCloud, so you cant’ install them again on the fly, you have to purchase them again or copy them from your PC. Updates: You can’t update previous App Store apps using iTunes, you have to copy the app to your iOS device and update it from there. And then connect the iOS device to your computer to copy the new version to your iTunes folder.
