Bullshit

It’s been a long time since I’ve read such complete and utter shit.

  • rwitt

Funny, I read this same article earlier this morning and thought the same thing. Drivel unworthy of even a link, let alone a response, IMO.

I guess it happens everywhere and in all fields but I feel bad for some of the tech journalists out there. It has to be hard to be lumped into the same professional category as this steaming pile of fiction. Unfortunately the incompetence is getting worse not better.

      @ Bruce

I hate to be a pedant, Bryce, but these are financial journalists not tech journalists.

  • D Pauw

Surprised they didn’t have each point in a slideshow to maximize page views since that seems to be why it exists.

I feel so dirty having clicked on that.

  • A T Matthews

I got as far as the headline and have up. Why did you bother reading on after “10 things that Apple…”? Such articles never say anything useful.

  • gjgustav

This is link bait, plain and simple. Yep – it’s all bullshit, but it certainly got the Apple fans to read it – that’s what it was designed to do. You can tell when the reader comments are nothing but vacuous “Apple sucks! No they don’t! Yes they do! No they…” partisan drivel.

  • Player_16

MY GAWD!! Ammo for the unwashed.

I think the Macalope might need to respond to this… But then again, he’d be wasting his time. I just read the 10 points and the last paragraph and read a few responses. So that what a spleen looks like.

    • http://twitter.com/jgpmolloy John Molloy

He was alerted to it on twitter this morning, maybe he’ll save it for the weekend.

Straw man. Don’t hand over your wallet to your children. Can happen with any smartphone. Try learning some manners. There’s more WORTH buying. Beyond that, manage your own self control. What being the most profitable consumer tech company isn’t good enough? The rest of the computing business is more competitive than the mobile phone market. & Still spending more for service than the device. At least we’re getting a better phone for the subsidy. Welcome to America, have you never been marketed to? Falling behind what exactly? A few checkboxes maybe, but not the whole experience. Never mind those Kindle Books, mp3′s, videos, and magazines you can consume on iOS devices that you can get from non-Apple sources. Translated: “Anyone who doesn’t agree with us is a FANBOI”.

  • craigbooker

I agree Jim. What a load of junk. Another example of journalists looking for page views.

  • MacsenMcBain

Thanks to folks like this, the Angry Mac Bastards will never run out of new material to discuss.

  • Ted Ellis

Wow! I couldn’t even get through most of the first page. I think the numbers should go:

Bullshit Crap Guano 4-10 aren’t worth even renaming.

  • RawBob

“It’s been a long time since I’ve read such complete and utter shit.”

But it got you to click on it. They win.

This same article pops up every year. It’s always written by someone new, and appears on a different site, but the end result is always the same.

A list of ten things about Apple that contains:

5 things that have nothing to do with Apple or the product in question 2 things that are true, but completely out of Apple’s control 2 things that apply to every company selling products in the same category 1 thing that is somewhat relevant, but completely out of the context of the article

This sort of dipshittery is, thankfully, only read by tech geeks who are so anti-Apple that it really doesn’t matter what the article states after the headline and opening paragraph.

  • sapphir8

I do believe that Apple is a bit behind in some ways, but ahead in others. This article isn’t 100% off.

    • K. Langoso

      No, just 90% :D

  • K. Langoso

Please, whatever you do, don´t read the comments… it´s nauseating.

It’s not just nauseating, it’s sad. The Apple bashing has been going on since at least the 90′s (probably earlier, but that’s when I started with computers). It’s the same tired arguments over and over again. Apple sucks. [Windows, Android, insert your favorite software/vendor here] is better. You’re all sheep. Do these people realize that they too are sheep? They’re just on the other side.

It’s really sad that people will resort to the insults and vitriol directed at people because of a choice of technology they prefer to use. I prefer Apple products personally, but I make a living using Windows. They all have their pros and cons. Use what works for you and be happy. It’s just a computer. Don’t we have more import, and real, issues to worry about?

One point in the article that I will comment on is that the author does not think that Apple spends enough on R&D. It’s not about how much you spend on R&D, it’s the quality of that R&D. Right now just about everyone is trying to copy what Apple has done. They must have some damn good R&D to come out with products that everyone wants to buy or copy.

  • pawhite524

Yes, articles like this are an insult to Apple fans like those who read The Loop, Daring Fireball, The Macalope, etc.

But just like those who kept baseball players of African-American and Hispanic descent out of the game for decades it is also an insult, to a lesser but similar degree, to the human race to write and publish this crapola.

I assume the author was paid in the metaphorical 30 pieces of silver for betraying all reason and sensibility?

  • mrkwst22

It would be sad if it wasn’t so funny.

I’ve been doing Apple since 1978 and this crap has always been out there.

There is a segment of the populous that will never understand. Natural selection (and the various iterations of Windows…) is weeding them out.

thanx for the link! another good laugh!

  • lucascott

I love #2. Apple put use restrictions in the software even before the App Store existed. If you were too dumb to use them and/or told your kids your password, there should be no refund for you

  • palais

I love the pop-up ad for their app.. Wow, of course I’m going to go and download that right away…
