Apple Propaganda from 1997

Dan Frommer:

Apple has long been fortunate to have an excited fan base promoting its products and helping lure first-time buyers. But did you know that Apple used to distribute free collateral to help its biggest fans spread the message?

What some call “propaganda”, we called “marketing materials”. :)

You know who else called them marketing materials? JOSEPH GOEBBELS!

Of course I knew this, because I ordered those brochures and reports.

  • Peter Cohen

Same here. I had them as a an IT manager at a company that was openly hostile to Macs, even though they were the lifeblood of the creative department, which produced the ads that paid for the publications we created.

I have a Mac Evangelist polo shirt somewhere from that same era.

Oh man when I was 13 I collected piles and piles of the mac evangelist stuff – still had it in my closet for a long long time until finally it was clear Apple wasn’t going anywhere (they had finally “won”).
