Boasting a colorfully angular interface, the promise of smooth transitional animations, and a design pandering toward extreme minimalism, Metro is perhaps the most ill-fitting of titles for such a barren landscape.

And that’s just the first paragraph.

Spoiler: It doesn’t get any better.

It’s a beautifully but dramatically overwritten piece.

Essentially he’s saying Windows Phone 7 is a new interface layered on top of old crappy code, that MS has hampered the design of the hardware it can run on, and that Windows Phone 8 is an even newer interface heaped on top of now even more old and crappy code.

    Did I miss anything?

“Beautifully” might be pushing things, given he outright doesn’t know what some words mean (“supplanted”, for instance).

This is very, very bad writing. Look at me and my thesaurus! And adverbs, adverbs everywhere! “unapologetically attractive”? Ugh.

Even forgetting the style, the rest is also bad. Where are the examples and facts that support all these opinions?
