App Store reviews

Matthew Panzarino:

By a huge margin, the number one request by these developers was for Apple to allow them to respond directly to reviews on the App Store.

I agree.

As a consumer I really don’t want to see developers being allowed to rebut a review because those that get crap reviews are likely to try to blame it on the user, on their hardware etc. Or at least make it a policy that if a developer acts like an asshat when responding they risk their right to be a developer.

As a developer what I want to see is Apple filtering reviews before they are posted to eliminate those that are spamming about other apps, folks calling other reviewers stupid etc. Same as I would like to see ‘reviews’ about movies that are complaints about Apple policy etc not posted because they are utterly useless in terms of product quality.

In addition to those suggestions, I’d like to have “Most Helpful Reviews” be determined by upvotes – downvotes, instead of just by upvotes. Then some of the most unfairly negative comments wouldn’t hold as much weight.
