“It’s a really tough one. A lot does seem to come back to the fact that what we’re working on now feels like the most important and the best work we’ve done, and so it would be what we’re working on right now, which of course I can’t tell you about.”

    But what did you expect him to say, “The original iPad was the highlight of my career. Everything since then feels derivative; I’m really getting bored at Apple.”?

    It’s not just for Apple’s sake either. We all need to convince ourselves that what we are currently doing is our best work. Otherwise, it’s time to re-evaluate our lives and make a change.

    The comical part here will be the months of fruitless product speculation this quote will generate on the rumor blogs.
