Bullshit

Nathan Brookwood:

Android and iOS tablets do a yeoman’s job when it comes to consuming content, but lack the software tools and hardware features needed to create content. Windows-based tablets, which have been around since 2002, have always included the features needed for content creation, but lacked the easy to use interfaces needed for content consumption. The Metro User Interface in Windows 8 supplies these missing elements, and thus positions Win 8-based tablets as the only ones suitable for those who want to both create and consume content on a single device.

Bullshit.

Indeed. So far Metro is little more than the interface you see when the device is powered on. Beyond that it’s the apps that will make or break the experience, and so far we’ve seen nothing compelling on this front.

Excellent point. It’s as if pundits still believe the only thing Apple’s mobile offerings have going for them is iOS itself.

Nothing like someone working on the lunatic fringe to declare his computing paradigm as the norm to which the rest of society will soon succumb.

I find it most disturbing that not only is someone actually still using a Windows tablet from last decade, but worse, likes it. Aren’t people like this supposed to be in rooms with padded walls to protect society and themselves from themself?

big words about something that hasn’t been released and used for the last 2 years like iOS for iPad has.

His words also make me wonder how much time he’s clocked actually using an iPad because you can’t create content on it. Perhaps you can’t create something like the sequel to Avatar but  you can write documents, draw, edit home movies etc. And for many users that’s more than enough content creation.
