Not to be a dick

I love it when Gruber does this.

Considering the iterative nature of device development, no device is ever really “ready” so much as it is due. Google may have had a device that was “ready” to ship in May, but then decided to move the due date in order to go with another iteration.

Like Apple could have done if they’d wanted the new iPad to be a few millimetres thinner, but for them the due date was more important so they deemed the device “ready”.So yeah, in this case, I’d say Gruber is just being a dick.

Yes, because moving the “due” date from May to July make Google a ton of money.

      That’s a really stupid comment.

You just took two paragraphs trying to connect four things that have nothing to do with each other. Well done. Especially your use of the word “iterative.”

Thanks! I’ll take the points you’ve made here under consideration.

        … wait.

i’d say Gruber is being a dick because he says that the ‘not until July’ means it wasn’t ready and misses that they said “the current design” was ready and they decided to delay to change the design

Or it could well be that the original source was Digitimes and given we know how full of shit they are this was never a real date anyway.

Here is some other news for you: The new iPhone was due out tomorrow however my sources tell me it will now be some time in the future.

“Some reports have suggested Google wants to delay its tablet until after June so it can install the next version of Android, codenamed Jelly Bean, but that’s unlikely, the sources said. The current product is designed for Android 4.0, and new software could cause a much longer delay.” Doesn’t this suggest more than just a few design problems if a brand new device can’t handle the next version of the OS right out of the box.
